What's the deal with the Elf on the Shelf?!

Ok - So after seeing all of the Facebook postings of everyone's "elf" adventures, I had to see what all of the fuss was about!

A trip to Barnes and Noble and 30 bucks later, I discovered the magic.

I bought the elf and book combo set. I received my elf and he came with an illustrated storybook of how he came to be.

He was sent to be Santa's helper and watch over us "kids" and report our behavior back to Santa. Kids are not allowed to touch the elf and sometimes he gets into adventure himself.

At my house, we received Marley ~ a curious and mischievous elf. As there are no "kids" to watch over at our house, he sometimes gets into things while he is watching over my husband and me.

Here are a few of his escapades:

The book does strive to teach kids lessons - such as being good for Christmas and other values.
I have to admit, we are having a lot of fun with him! It's fun waking up and wondering what Marley has gotten in to.

As an added bonus, an "elf" told me that the book's author lives nearby and attends a local church.

Curious, I looked it up for myself: The author, Chanda Bell is a graduate of the University of West Georgia where she earned a bachelor's degree in middle grades education. Presently, she works as a free-lance writer and public speaker. She lives in Georgia with her husband and two children.

Man - Why couldn't I think of this little million-dollar idea!! Oh well ~ It's still a lot of fun!

Maybe one day I'll actually have a kid to share it with... For now, the 30 somethings are Enjoying!!
