Help me Decide on New Hardwood Floors - Wood You?
My latest project obsession? - New hardwood floors.
After years of admiring the dark floors and contrasting wall colors in two of my favorite hangouts, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware, I have decided that it's my turn.
Now to decide the color....
Here is some of my inspiration and the look I am hoping to achieve:
Here are the colors that I am considering
All three look great, but only one best suits my home.
Please let me know what you think and I hope to have pics soon. Thanks!

I like your blog :) On the wood floors...we have a dark mahogany and I am constantly sweeping it....seems to never end. Everything shows and seems magnified. But do I wish I had chosen a different floor color, 'no'. If you are wanting that look with the cooler shaded gray paint, I suggest the darker floors. The darker floors seem to go well with a variety of wall paints, from cooler tones to warm tones. The lighter woods seem (to me) to go better with warmer paints. The darker or the super light woods seem to be the most versatile. I LOVE this look you are going for. You have great taste.

Thanks Kim!! I miss seeing you! But I do follow you on FB and you are VERY photogenic!! :) I think you will be right about having to sweep and dust constantly... but I LOVE the look of dark floors. I guess that's the struggle. It was so nice of you to drop by my blog! Please join the site! :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving my dark hardwood floors. It is true that they do show more dust etc & sweeping is a constant - however, I don't think I would have been happy with any other color. Still looks very Southern to me & I love them.
ReplyDeleteDo you think I should split the difference and opt for a tone more in the middle of the three?
ReplyDeleteMaybe that middle color....? (See Pic above)
the darkest!!!! it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lesley! I agree that they are beautiful and achieve the look I am going for. I guess I will just have to be a floor cleaning machine! :)
